When making outgoing calls, such as through Skype, to a mobile phone number, „Early Media“ is typically sent before receiving an „OK“ on the INVITE when calling into the mobile network:
However, when making outgoing calls to a landline number, the following situation may arise:
To address this issue, it is recommended to disable Early Media Support on the Skype side, specifically in the IP Profile for Skype.
Navigate to the menu:
Setup -> Signaling & Media -> Coders & Profiles -> IP Profiles -> Skype Profile.
Set the „Remote Early Media“ option to „Not Supported,“ then click apply and save.
The root cause of the problem in this scenario was that the Session Border Controller lacked media channels or DSP resources, preventing it from generating Early Media to be sent to the Skype Frontend Server.
Since there were also no media signals coming from the provider, the call was terminated. 🙂
